A Look Into the Future…

  Natalie Nassau, VOX Entertainment

As an aspiring PR practitioner I was extremely fortunate to meet Natalie, a PR coordinator for VOX Entertainment in Los Angeles. I found Natalie through social media sites such as LinkedIn and Facebook, and I soon realized we had both belonged to the same sorority at the University of Oregon. She was so gracious and helpful in answering several questions I had about her experience so far, and she really gave me an inside look into my possible career. Natalie knew early on in college that she was passionate about the field of public relations and also had an interest in event planning at a corporate level. Her interest and hard work through college landed her an internship with VOX Entertainment a few years back. She was immediately thrust into long, busy days, jumping between an office and working from her apartment. Natalie also worked plenty of events, so weekends were not usually as carefree and relaxing as they were for other women her age. She emphasized the importance of constant communication with clients and the fact that her job did not end when she left the office at the end of a day. She keeps up with several social media sites and various ways to access clients such as text, email and telephone. Natalie has to be ready at a moment’s notice to contact VOX and make last minute changes to client campaigns, advertisements or promotional events.

As hectic as this all sounds to me, her passion for the industry is apparent. Her excitement when talking about brainstorming sessions for experimental marketing and successful completion of a client’s campaign or event was so genuine. A few well-known clients Natalie worked with through VOX include Chipotle, the Hollywood Lifestyle Awards committee and Legendary Pictures. Natalie told me that visual items and proof of creativity and brainstorming skills are essential when trying to reach target markets for specific clients. Portfolio items that show I can relay a message in a short, simple way that immediately grabs attention would be ideal for upcoming interviews. She also gave me the hint that when you are passionate about something, it shows. She told me not to be afraid of showing my excitement and dedication to an agency or specific client, because it will make others that much more excited to work with you. Thank you, Natalie, for your helpful insight and inspiring tips!
